The winds wind through the field. Long used-up snow flakes tumble and get caught up in the eager frightful breeze. Ever-cheerful, how and why I'll not pretend to know, the birds chirp and creak though the mercury sits at 5 below. After all this is the heat of this winter day.

Recording Information:
This recording was made on February 6th, 2021 in a pasture not far from where I live. It was bitterly cold that day at -6 deg F and so windy but clear blue sky and deceptively sunny. The wind scraped your face like metal. I found a sort of hollow next to a pile of cleared oak trunks and nestled in. The wind screen on my H5 was just enough protection from buffeting as I listened to the whistle. How can tiny birds live and sing in this? Kneeling stock still next to the recorder, toes froze and fingers lingered over the recording interface. Just capture another minute before trudging home through the 14 inches of drifting snow.
